Greater Toronto West Regional

The second regional SWAT attended during the 2013 season was the Greater Toronto West Regional (March 28-30). We are pleased and humbled that both individuals from our team as well as the team as a whole were recognized by the judges on both Friday and Saturday afternoons.

On Friday night we congratulated our mentor, Mrs. Sils, for receiving the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. The next day the journey ended for our robot in qualification matches. However, later on that afternoon one of our co-captains, Ankita Sharma, was selected as a FIRST Dean’s List Finalists for GTRW. We also took home our third Regional Chairman’s Award, which qualified us to go to the 2013 FIRST Championships in St. Louis! We had so much fun at the regional but we couldn’t have done it without the always amazing team of judges, volunteers and of course, our mentors and parents. We hope to see everyone again at the 2014 GTRW!

Chairman’s Award

After an exciting weekend at GTR West, SWAT was honoured to return holding the prestigious Chairman’s Award. This April, our girls hope to spread more of their magic at the World Championships in St. Louis.

New York City Regional

This year SWAT 771 attended the New York City Regional. We came home feeling very proud of how far we had gotten as a team, as we ended the qualification matches with a record of 7-1-0. As a result, we became alliance captains of the 4th seed alliance. With team 522 The Robo Wizards, and team 514 Miller Place Robotics we entered quarter finals, where after a good fight, the regional ended for our robot. SWAT was also thrilled to be the recipients of the Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers Entrepreneurship Award, which recognized the hard work of our business team. It is safe to say that all of the girls had an amazing time, learned a lot, and greatly enjoyed the experience of competing at NYC.
